What a surprise this album was! Of course when I saw that the music was written by Henrik Flyman I understood that this was going to be interesting. And right I was!The music is actually best described as the label suggests: Theatrical Metal. What makes this CD stand out far above average is the songs. The musicians are however top notch as well. But there aren´t many records nowadays where I get surprised by the songwriting. Many times songs seem to be excuses for having something to show off upon. Not in this case. But don´t you worry, if you´re into show offs you will absolutely get your share. The band consists of Henrik Flyman (guitar), Kasper Gram (bass), Henrik Brockmann (vocal) and Dennis Buhl (drums). As special guests on keyboards there are the impressing trio Mats Olausson (Kamelot, Yngwie Malmsteen, Ark), Richard Andersson (Space Odyssey, Time Requiem) and Andre Andersen (Royal Hunt). With this line up nothing can go wrong. Everyone are really doing a great job. Interesting guitars, great drums, cool bassplaying, good vocals with superb choir work. The keyboards are also very impressing. I have many favourite songs on this album. It´s hard to pick just one. Evil Masquerade have their own style but if I were to compare them with other bands to give you an idea of what kind of hardrock to expect it would be groups as Kamelot, Royal Hunt, Yngwie Malmsteen, Queen and such. I would recommend this album to anyone into this kind of music without hesitation.
